You can't increase your Champions' Ranks at the Sparring Pit, but you can continue Levelling them up here, with no effort, all the way up to the highest Level.
Then, when they've gained enough XP and are ready to level up, you simply press the upgrade button to level up.
Just insert Champions into the Slots, then wait. The Sparring Pit lets you passively upgrade Champions' Levels.
